When the Pain doesn’t give up …

When working with clients experiencing pain, a first step is often to consider whether the pain may be rooted in a current physical issue or if it could be connected to past experiences or emotional responses. I always recommend consulting your medical practitioner first to ensure there is no underlying physical cause requiring treatment. Sometimes, people experience pain for which no clear medical explanation has been found, even after thorough testing. This can be frustrating and confusing. Research has shown that emotional and physical responses, ike stress, anxiety, and persistent pain, can share common pathways in the nervous system. In some cases, pain may remain even after an injury has healed. Some individuals find that hypnotherapy offers a supportive, complementary approach to help them explore these responses. Working with the subconscious mind in a relaxed state, some people report a shift in how they relate to their pain, or even a reduction in discomfort. This approach is not a replacement for medical care, but may be experienced as a useful addition for some.

  • It’s not uncommon for people to experience ongoing pain, even when medical tests don’t reveal a specific cause. In these cases, emotional factors or past experiences may be contributing. Hypnotherapy can offer a gentle, supportive space to explore this mind-body connection.

  • Some people report a shift in how they experience or relate to their pain through hypnotherapy. By working with the subconscious mind in a relaxed state, it’s possible to address stress, tension, or emotional patterns that may be linked to physical discomfort.

  • No. Hypnotherapy is a complementary approach and not a substitute for medical care. It’s always recommended to consult your healthcare provider first to rule out or address any physical issues requiring treatment.

  • Hypnotherapy works by guiding you into a relaxed, focused state where your subconscious mind is more accessible. In this state, we can explore emotional patterns, beliefs, or past experiences that may be contributing to how your nervous system processes pain.

  • Hypnotherapy may support people dealing with persistent or chronic pain, including tension headaches, old injury pain, or unexplained discomfort. While it doesn’t “cure” pain, it may offer relief or a different perspective on how pain is experienced.
