When the Pain doesn’t give up …

When working with clients experiencing pain, a first step is often to consider whether the pain may be rooted in a current physical issue or if it could be connected to past experiences or emotional responses. I always recommend consulting your medical practitioner first to ensure there is no underlying physical cause requiring treatment. Sometimes, people experience pain for which no clear medical explanation has been found, even after thorough testing. This can be frustrating and confusing. Research has shown that emotional and physical responses, ike stress, anxiety, and persistent pain, can share common pathways in the nervous system. In some cases, pain may remain even after an injury has healed. Some individuals find that hypnotherapy offers a supportive, complementary approach to help them explore these responses. Working with the subconscious mind in a relaxed state, some people report a shift in how they relate to their pain, or even a reduction in discomfort. This approach is not a replacement for medical care, but may be experienced as a useful addition for some.
