Often, our first attempts to understand or change something involve using our thinking mind with questions like “Why is this happening?” or “Why can’t I break this habit?” While well intended, this approach may not detect underlying beliefs or subconscious patterns influencing behaviour.
Hypnosis, also known as trance, is a natural state we drift in and out of several times daily. It involves focused attention that allows access to the subconscious mind, our internal "hard drive", while the conscious mind takes a break.
This state offers an opportunity to observe thoughts and feelings from a different perspective, much like pausing to inspect machinery when something seems off.
Ignoring or overriding these internal signals can sometimes contribute to stress and related challenges such as disrupted sleep, anxiety, or difficulties in relationships to name a few. Hypnotherapy may help bring awareness to these patterns, supporting deeper insight.
This journey is personal and unique, involving exploration of thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Hypnotherapy often focuses on emotional experiences rather than specific memories, as emotions can provide clearer indications of underlying patterns.
Many clients report positive changes that extend beyond the session itself, though experiences vary. Hypnotherapy is one tool that can support self-awareness and personal growth.

The experience of hypnotherapy can feel different for everyone.
Some people feel a floating sensation, others feel sleepy or simply very relaxed. You’ll likely still be aware of my voice and your own thoughts throughout.
What matters most is knowing that how it feels in the moment isn’t a direct measure of its value or effect. Even if the experience feels subtle, many clients report meaningful shifts over time. -
No, that’s a common myth. You remain aware and in control during the entire session. You can speak, move, get a tissue, or even take a break if needed—I've had clients pause briefly to use the bathroom!
If we’re working online and the call gets disconnected, you might simply drift into a light sleep if you're deeply relaxed. But you'll naturally become aware that my voice is no longer present and open your eyes when you're ready.
Hypnosis is a state of focused relaxation, not a loss of control.

Hypnosis isn’t magic — it’s a natural mental process.
It works by guiding you into a deeply relaxed and focused state, often compared to the brain activity that happens during REM sleep. This relaxed state allows easier access to the subconscious mind, where habits and emotional patterns are stored. Most people find the process surprisingly gentle and accessible. Even if it’s your first time, you may find it easier than expected to enter this relaxed state — and many describe feeling calm and centred afterwards.

Don’t worry about how deep you go into trance, that will likely work against the process.
Many people are surprised to learn that the depth of trance isn’t directly linked to results. Some people feel very relaxed, others stay more alert, and both experiences can be equally effective.Rather than focusing on “Am I deep enough?”, it's more helpful to stay open to the process. People often find that simply allowing themselves to engage with the session supports meaningful shifts..

One of the things many people find fascinating is that even when they think they know the reason behind a pattern, hypnotherapy can offer a new perspective. This shift in awareness can help reframe past experiences and open up space for change.
It’s also common for clients to revisit memories or moments they didn’t expect—ones that still hold emotional significance. By staying relaxed and open to the process, you allow your subconscious mind to bring forward whatever is most relevant for you at that time.

If your subconscious brings you back to scenes involving trauma, it’s important to know that you’re not reliving the event. You are reviewing it from a distance, and you remain in control throughout the process.
My role is to guide and support you in a calm, respectful space, where you can safely explore your emotions. Many clients find that simply witnessing these past moments from a different perspective can bring clarity or a sense of release.
Your wellbeing is the priority, and you are never expected to go further than what feels manageable for you.

People experience change in different ways with hypnotherapy and every journey is unique.
Here are a few common patterns clients have described:Immediate: Some people notice a shift during or right after the session. This might include changes in how they feel, think, or respond.
Gradual: For others, change unfolds steadily over days or weeks, often as subtle but consistent shifts in behaviour or mindset.
Reflective: Some clients don’t notice a big difference at first, but later realise, often through feedback from others or self-reflection, that something meaningful has shifted.
There’s no “right” way to experience hypnotherapy. However change shows up, it often starts with a deeper awareness of what’s been holding you back.
